mission statement

Toronto Dance Love-In is a not-for-profit artist-run dance organization based in Tkaronto. We host an array of programming including drop-in sessions, live performances, facilitated talks, collective practices, and our annual Summer Love-In Festival. We are grateful to partner with various spaces across the city and continue to host some of our events online to broaden access. By connecting artists locally and abroad, Love-In provides a platform for sharing radical approaches in dance education and creative practice.

Since 2009, our organization has been motivated by a mandate to uphold generosity, respect and love. We were founded to foster connection in the communities we serve, providing open form access to dance training. 2025 marks our 16th year in operation. Today, our mandate remains focused on principles of reducing barriers to accessing dance and dance experiences in Tsi Tkaronto. We are committed to meaningfully increasing representation for artists and staying responsive to the ways our community moves through a changing world, knowing that liberation for Black, Indigenous, People of Colour, Trans, d/Deaf, and Disabled community means liberation for all.

values

Love-In strives to create equitable, inclusive environments in all of our programming. We celebrate the diverse intersections of identity and experience represented in our community of movement practitioners. We work to integrate anti-oppressive practices and disability justice frameworks into all levels of engagement. Our organization can be counted on to continuously elevate, engage, be accountable to, and take the lead from the voices of Black, Indigenous, People of Colour, Trans, d/Deaf, and Disabled community members and leadership.

Love-In staff are committed to social justice and the continuous self-education that meaningful accountability demands. We push ourselves and urge our participants to unpack and consider their complicity in white supremacy, coloniality, patriarchy, cissexism and capitalistic structures. Discriminatory acts, language, gestures, behavior, racism, transphobia, homophobia, microaggressions, xenophobia, anti-semitism, ableism, audism, sexism, misogyny and harassment of any form will not be tolerated at any of our events.
