Practice Lab with Camille Huang
May 1-3, 2025
awe is not precious awe is everywhere
This is an imagination-based, sensory and performance-building practice/party using guided improvisation, scores and writing.Through a practice of guided improvisation and tasks, we will enter, make messes, searching for awe through the contradictions of the body. There will be both listening and generating from the body and voice. we will dance and sweat and write. We will conjure remembered information together, tapping into the body as a vessel for transporting information. This workshop invites messiness, attention, emerging fictions and contradictions of the body, tapping into pockets of shared/private imaginations. Through various choreographic tasks, I will offer a strange party for diving into dancing, astonishment and unknown worlds.
THERE IS ENOUGH AWE for everyone, forever.

who is this for ↓
This workshop comes from a contemporary dance background made for experienced dancers in mind. It is open to anyone with a movement or performance practice. It may interest those who love improvisation, diving into unknown places, as well as those with a creation or performance practice.
A note from Camille: I will offer tasks get messy and playful with moving the body and its parts, including talking and writing. All tasks can be adapted to personal needs. Wear and bring what gives you pleasure and comfort to move in. Bring a notebook and pen, and water.
There will be both listening and generating from the body and voice. I will offer scores to activate the body in imaginative ways. We will conjure remembered information together, tapping into the body as a vessel for transporting information. Sessions may include experimenting with objects, writing and sound recording.
