Mission Statement

The Toronto Dance Community Love-In is a not-for-profit artist-run dance organization based in Tkaronto. The organization is nomadic, hosting an array of programming including workshops, performances, facilitated talks, collective practices & a summer festival in various spaces across the city (and online).

Our organization is motivated by a mandate to uphold generosity, respect, and LOVE above all else. We promote caring for and supporting each other through a shared interest in bodies finding joy while moving together collectively.

By connecting, supporting and welcoming artists locally and abroad, the Love-In provides a platform for sharing experimental approaches in dance education and creative practice. As we are moving into the unknown together, listening and observing, shifting priorities, we remain malleable in order to offer new opportunities and start new conversations within Tkaronto.

The Love-In strives to be an inviting and welcoming place. We keep in question what defines a dance community so that it can continue to expand and be responsive.

Values

The Love-In strives to create equitable, inclusive environments in all of our programming. We celebrate the diverse intersections represented in our communities, artists and participants. We work to integrate anti-oppressive practices into all levels of engagements. The Love-In urges participants to unpack and consider their complicity in white supremacy, coloniality, patriarchy, cissexism and capitalistic structures. The Love-In is committed to our continual education, and, to having a real impact on social justice and radical change. Our organization can be counted on to continuously elevate, engage, be accountable to, and take the lead from the voices of Black, Indigenous, People of Colour, Trans, Deaf, and Disabled community members we collaborate with. Discriminatory acts, language, gestures, behavior, racism, transphobia, homophobia, microaggressions, xenophobia, anti-semitism, ableism, audism, sexism, misogyny, and harassment of any form will not be tolerated at any of our events.
