How does the Love-In operate?
The Love-In works and operates against hierarchical structures. We operate on the basis of a collective model, which means we teach and support one another throughout our work. It is a place to grow, to enter with your own personal history and skill set and to gain knowledge in areas of interest. For new team members, we allow time to observe, learn and discover. We abide by simple principles; to respect one another and to always be open to new ideas. The style and flow of work is shaped by the people who make up the team and the ways in which they feel comfortable working together. We are a company collaborator at Generator, providing us with excellent external resources, workshops, networking opportunities, and one-on-one coaching sessions. We are additionally governed by a board of directors.
What does a Lover do?
A Lover operates like an Artistic Director. We each take leadership roles on projects (ie Grant Writing, Programming, Outreach) but share decision making overall. A Lover is committed to upholding the Love-In mission; to provide spaces for respect, generosity and LOVE. Our programs are ever changing in response to the needs of the contemporary dance community. A Lover is therefore responsible for having an interest in what is current, and to ask the question- who is making what, now? We are home of the emergent in dance making.
