About the Workshop

Mix it up class draws from many styles of movement including house, waacking, kung fu, hip hop and all the styles that influenced those movement practices.

Each class offered this week includes some body work and a movement practice influenced by the style mentioned. The members of mix mix are training to be physical, articulate, & musical. These classes are how we have been training together for the past year. Our practice is ever evolving and aims to be physically challenging yet safe. The classes work with freestyle concepts as well as choreography.

We aim to create an inclusive and a safe space. Discussion is welcome.

In Association with Progress Festival

Mix Mix Dance Collective is outrageous, fierce and thoughtful in their investigation of diversity in movement, music and art practice. The artists of Mix Mix Dance Collective have been extensively training, performing, teaching and competing in various street dance forms for more than 10 years. Their work is loud, colorful, groovy, accessible yet poignant, sharing their love of underrepresented street dance forms with a wider audience. The work of the collective deals with issues of equality and challenging socially-constructed identities such as gender and race.
