About the Workshop

This class explores the increasing between the first natural movement of breathing and the complex high physicality using speed, rhythm and coordination. It aims to understand how to use the minimum effort to have a maximal result of our body vocabulary, and how to use the floor and the gravity to help us transform it and direct our energy efficiently. The fast body weight shifting that will be proposed to the dancers will increase their understanding of how to free themselves without loosing the consciousness of space and rhythm. The class is dynamically increasing, aiming at different scales of quality between broad and fluid movements and springiness.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Vittoria De Ferrari Sapetto started with classical ballet in Genoa (Italy) at the age of six. Later on, she studied African dance and continued into modern jazz and contemporary. Sher moved to Brussels in 2002 and collaborated with Jan Fabre, Quan Bui Ngoc, Davis Freeman, Frey Faust and Felix Ruckert. She cofounded the dance collective 2muchcompany with which she develops her own projects. In 2012, she danced in the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London in a choreography by Akram Khan. In 2013, she started collaborating with Eastman/Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.
